Chocolate Oatmeal

On this page I’m sharing the recipe for chocolate oatmeal. I love rolled oats, there’s so much you can do with them. And they’re very healthy! The first thing you think of when you hear rolled oats is probably oatmeal. When I started my food blog 3 years ago I saw many healthy recipes on other websites of oatmeal. But I never wanted to make them; it just sounded like something that wouldn’t taste good at all.
It all changed when I made overnight oatmeal for the first time, although I have to admit that I made an apple pie version to make it tastier. You can find my apple pie overnight oats recipe here.
Ever since then I’m a big fan of rolled oats! I’ve created a chocolate oatmeal recipe. This way your breakfast almost feels like dessert! You only need 4 ingredients for the basic recipe and you can top them with whatever you want. Below you’ll find the recipe for this healthy, vegan and gluten free chocolate oatmeal bowl!

Ingredients for 1 bowl:
250ml Almond Nilk (or another plant based milk)
30 gram rolled oats
1 teaspoon cacao powder
1/2 banana

My Muesli Chocolate
coconut flakes
flax seed
peanut butter
Dark Chocolate with almonds (I used Tony Chocolonely)

Bring the milk to a boil, add the rolled oats and cacao powder and let them boil for 1 minute. Cut the banana in half lengthwise. Warm some coconut oil in a pan and bake the banana on the cutting side for 2 minutes. Put the chocolate oatmeal in a bowl and top it with the baked banana. I’ve also topped my bowl with My Muesli chocolate, coconut flakes, flax seeds, peanut butter and dark chocolate.
No bananas? You can also top this chocolate oats bowl with cherries.
