Parc Ornithologique: Flamingo’s in the South of France

About an hour west of Marseille in the south of France you’ll find Parc Naturel regional de Camargue.
Within this natural park you’ll find Parc Ornithologique du Pont De Gau. Here you’ll be able to see many flamingo’s! You might think you can only find flamingo’s in tropical countries, but you can find them in Europe as well. Check out the pictures I took at Parc Ornithologique of the flamingo’s in the South of France.

The park is open 365 days a year and the entrance fee is 7,50 (be aware that you can only pay in cash. There’s an ATM at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, a small town within a 5 minute drive. Within the park you’ll find a clearly marked route that you can follow to see the entire park. But even if you don’t follow the signs you’ll walk straight to the flamingo’s and you’ll see many of them!

Be amazed at how they stand on one leg or how they ‘dance around’ to find food in the water.
It’s a pretty sight to see them fly or when they spread their wings while standing. The soft pink color of their feathers will make place for a darker shade of pink and a touch of black.

Besides the flamingo’s you’ll also find many other animals at the park like herons and otters.
