Greenwoods: English Tearoom in Amsterdam

Greenwoods is Amsterdams first English tearoom. It was founded in 1988 and it’s still my favorite spot for a real English cup of tea, lunch or scones. One of the reasons for that is that they have many vegetarian options, another reason is that almost all their products are home baked or made on the premises and the third reason is that they have a nice terrace overlooking the Keizersgracht (canal).

As you can see on the picture they serve, amongst other egg dishes, perfect poached eggs on soda bread with avocado and cottage cheese. In my video I’m showing you how to make poached eggs for dummies.
They also have egg benedict, eggs florentine and scrambled eggs. Got a big appetite? Try the Keizers Veggie, your own pan with eggs, halloumi, potatoes, avocado and portobello mushrooms.
Their breakfast is served all day so you can also have this big breakfast dish for lunch.

Greenwoods also has several options to satisfy your sweet tooth. They have several cakes, scones and this banana bread with white chocolate mascarpone. Trust me; this banana bread is delicious!
You can also make your own banana bread at home with this recipe.

If the sun’s out, you can enjoy your lunch on their terrace with views over the canal. And if it’s too warm to have a nice pot of tea, you can also try their homemade iced tea or the Greenwoods elderflower and mint presse.
