Mad Hatter Brunch at Restaurant Bluespoon in Amsterdam

Restaurant Bluespoon in Amsterdam serves a Mad Hatter’s Brunch in Alice in Wonderland style. It’s great for lovers of Disney and brunch, and I love both! Bluespoon Restaurant and Bar is the restaurant of the Andaz Hotel on the Prinsengracht in the city center of Amsterdam. The interior of the hotel is designed by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders and is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. With an interior that’s inspired by the Disney movie, it makes sense to have a brunch inspired by Alice in Wonderland as well! Chef Sander Bierenbroodspot created the Mad Hatter Brunch with his team, based on the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.
The Mad Hatter Sundays brunch in Amsterdam is a feast for the eye and your tastebuds.

You start your Mad Hatters Sunday with an amuse-bouche. You can inform the staff if you’re a vegetarian or vegan so you’ll get a different amuse than the watercress cream with fish. I got this cute cocotte with quinoa, roasted carrot and truffle.

You choose one of the main courses that the waitress will tell you about. I went for the gnocchi with egg yolk, rosemary, Old Amsterdam cheese and truffle. I love gnocchi a lot, I often choose it when it’s on the menu of a restaurant and I even made sweet potato gnocchi myself. The Old Amsterdam cheese makes the dish very creamy and it’s very suitable to have Old Amsterdam cheese when you’re having brunch in Amsterdam.

During the Mad Hatter brunch you’ll get unlimited refills on bubbles! So you’ll get as many glasses of sparkling wine as you want. But you might want to pause the sparkling wine for a minute when you get the next course of your Sunday brunch: a food cocktail! It’s a cocktail inspired by the season. We got this one with dark rum, coffee, banana and almond cream.

You might realize by now that you don’t need to have breakfast first when you’ve booked your Mad Hatters Brunch at Restaurant Bluespoon! After the cocktail you’ll get a cheese platter with different kinds of cheeses, dried apricots, nuts an different jams. The Gouda cheese with fig jam was my favorite combination.

After the cheese it’s time for the favorite part of almost everybody: the sweets! At the Mad Hatter Sunday you’ll get three different kinds of little treats: an amaretto cookie with whipped cream, a chocolate raspberry treat and a blackberry cheesecake. These desserts really give you the feeling that you’re at the Mad Hatter’s tea party. Johnny Depp and the rabbit were missing, but I sure felt like I was Alice in Wonderland!

You can enjoy this Mad Hatters Brunch every Sunday from 12:30 to 4pm for €59 per person, including unlimited sparkling wine. You can find more information and reserve your table for the Mad Hatters Brunch here.
