Eagles Resort: perfect accommodation in Halkidiki

When I went to Greece I stayed at Eagles Resort, the perfect accommodation in Halkidiki. Halkidiki is a region in the mainland of Greece that has 3 peninsulas. The Eagles Resort is located on the third peninsula. This luxurious resort has a hotel called Eagles Palace and private villas at Eagles Villas. I stayed in a hotelroom at Eagles Palace.

Eagles Resort

The Eagles Resort is from the Tornivoukas family. The family opened up their first hotel in Thessaloniki in 1925. In 1973 the beautiful Eagles Palace was build. But as they keep on renovating the hotel, it looks brand new and very modern.
You can find the Eagles resort close to the town Ouranoupolis on the 3rd peninsula of Halkidiki, just North of Mount Athos.
The Eagles Resort consists of two parts: Eagles Villas and Eagles Palace.
The Eagles Villas are 42 villas with a private pool and sea views. The Eagles Palace is a luxurious hotel.
The Eagles Resort is open from April to October. They close their doors every year on November 1st when the season ends.

Hotel room

I stayed in one of the hotel rooms of Eagles Palace. We had a beautiful room that was fully equipped to everyone’s needs. It had a large comfortable bed, a wardrobe, mini bar and hairdryer. Our room had two bathrooms; one with a shower and one with a jacuzzi. We had a big balcony that felt more like a roof terrace. From our balcony we could see the sea and watch the beautiful sunset every evening.

Service

The service at Eagles Resort was extraordinary. When we arrived it was already quite late and as they thought we might have missed our dinner they had two plates with nibbles waiting for us. Your room is cleaned every morning and made ready for the evening every afternoon. All the staff was very friendly and helpful.
They help you with all kinds of questions and are more than happy to arrange things for you like a taxi to the airport. There’s a free mini van going to and from Ouranoupolis (the nearest town that has many shops and restaurants and from where the cruises to Mount Athos depart).

Swimming Pool

Eagles Palace in Halkidiki is a wonderful swimming pool. From your sun bed you can watch the blue water of the swimming pool with palmtrees and the sea in the background. The swimming pool even had a pool side bar! So you can order your drinks and snacks from the water in your bathing suit!
You can lay in the sun or below one of the umbrellas in the shade.

Beach

Eagles Palace has its own beach! From the hotel you walk straight to the beach. There’s a nice path all along their stretch of sand. There are plenty of sun beds with umbrellas waiting for you to lay down and relax. They offer free beach towels on the beach so you don’t have to bring your own. There’s free cold water and fruit available to take or you can order your drink at the beach bar. The water is very pleasant and crystal clear.
There’s also a quiet zone on the beach where you can take a nap in silence.

Breakfast

Every morning you can enjoy breakfast at the breakfast buffet of Eagles Resort. I’ve stayed in many hotels before, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a breakfast buffet as big as the one at Eagles Palace. Everything you can imagine was spread out on the counters; cheese, charcuterie, breads, fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, pancakes. They even had around 8 different kinds of cakes and pies at the breakfast buffet!
You can enjoy your breakfast indoor, or at one of the two outdoor areas. We had breakfast outdoor every morning, as I really enjoy being outside on warm days.

Restaurants

The area of the breakfast buffet turns into a buffet style restaurant in the evenings. But there are several other restaurants at Eagles Resort. The first night we had dinner at Kamaris. This restaurant has a beautiful, large balcony with views of the sea and a nearby island. Here you can dine on a culinary level. The menu is designed by two-star Michelin chef Arnaud Bignon, resulting in beautiful dishes like this lemon pie dessert. Children aren’t allowed at the Kamaris restaurant.
The second night we had dinner at Vinum, a grill restaurant. If you’re eating indoors you’re sitting in the wine room and outdoor you’ll have a lovely grass area with tables for Vinum.
The last evening we had dinner at the buffet restaurant, the occasionally organize Greek evenings with a Greek style buffet dinner.

Activities

There are all kinds of activities that you can do at Eagles Resort. In your hotel room you’ll find a booklet with all activities that are being organzided each day. Most of them are free of charge. I took a Stand Up Paddling (SUP) lesson for example. It was hosted at the watersports centre of the resort, where you can also book boat trips.
