New Italian restaurant in Amsterdam: Impero Romano

There’s a new Italian restaurant in town! Located next to the Amstel river, it’s the newest addition to ‘de Pijp’ and Amsterdam East.
Impero Romano has already been around for 14 years in The Hague, but now they came to Amsterdam to tickle your tastebuds.
Impero Romano has a very stylish and warm interior. And the friendly staff makes you feel comfortable straight away. Within minutes they’ll bring you an appetizer and take your order for a drink.

They have many vegetarian options on the menu. Even their signature pasta is vegetarian! It’s fresh tagliolini pasta with butter and sage served in a big Parmesan cheese. On the website the vegetarian options are somehow not listed on the menu section, but trust me: they have quite a few and they’re very tasty!
My friend had a vegetarian spaghetti with courgette and I went for the layered aubergine dish with mozzarella and basil pictured at the top of this page.
And when you’re at an Italian restaurant, there’s really only one option for dessert: tiramisu!
Don’t get me wrong, the other desserts also sounded delicious, but I went for the classical tiramisu. It’s served in a tin mug with chocolate sauce, fresh fruit and whipped cream.
