Monte Pacis, Kaunas

Monte Pacis in Kaunas, is the restaurant in the Pazaislis Monastery. You can find the beautiful Pazaislis Monastory and hotel and restaurant Monte Pacis just East of Kaunas in Lithuania. Monte Pacis is a beautiful location for a wedding or a party. And the hotel rooms in the monastery make a very unique overnight stay. But also if you’re a regular guest, you can enjoy lunch or dinner at Monte Pacis. On this page I’m telling you all about Monte Pacis in Kaunas.

Pazaislis Monastery

Pazaislis Monastery just outside Kaunas in Lithuania is a monastery that is still in use. It’s very rare that you can spend the night and have dinner at a monastery that’s still in use. At Pazaislis Monastery half of the premisses is used by the nuns to work, pray and live. The other half is used by Monte Pacis.
They have beautiful hotel rooms in the monastery. They’re very romantic and spacious. And they have a restaurant and event space. The symmetrical courtyard is a beautiful location for weddings and other celebrations, but they’ve also got plenty of room for regular restaurant guests.

Menu Monte Pacis

The Monte Pacis restaurant is open for brunch, lunch and dinner. They’ve got an a-la-carte menu but you can also go for the tasting menu. This is either a four or a six course tasting menu. You can book it with a wine arrangement, so you get matching wines. I highly recommend the latter as Monte Pacis is an award winning wine restaurant. They’ve got over 200 wines on their wine list!
On the a-la-carte menu you can find dishes like Burrata or a Tuna Taco as starters and halloumi with tomatoes and Patagonian Calamari.

They find inspiration and ingredients for their dishes in the gardens from the monastery. And they serve several Lithuanian berry wines.
I always love it when a restaurant works with local products. And as you’ve got this beautiful setting at Monte Pacis, it’s nice that you can see aspects of it on your plate.

Desserts

I like desserts in general, but the desserts at Monte Pacis are works of art. I saw three of them and they were all beautiful. The fluffy white dessert below is inspired by the roses in the garden of the monastery and is sprayed with rose water right before it’s served.
The pink ball at the top of this page was filled with chocolate mousse. And the dessert picture here is coconut bavarois, two types of chocolates, fried pineapple, coconut sorbet and passion-fruit cream.
